Since the dawn of time human beings have been trying
to figure out who they are in relation to the world and
the rest of creation. Our concept of self is mostly
grounded in the physical aspect of our lives. As a race
we are mostly concerned with our basic physiological and
emotional needs. We seem to have forgotten or don’t know
that we are spiritual beings having a human experience.
If you want to know who you really are you must strike a
balance between these two worlds.
To know yourself you are going to have to look inward.
Meditation can help you connect with your true self,
that all knowing part of you that is connected to The
Source. When you make meditation part of your daily
routine, you begin to express your true self. You gain
knowledge, wisdom, self confidence, and your self worth
increase. You experience your connection to all things,
and as a result you gain a new respect for your fellow
humans, the animals, and all living things on the planet.
You then realize that your life has meaning and that you
have certain talent and you willingly step out of your
comfort zone to experience and share them with others.
To know yourself you need to identify and honor your
values, your needs and your strengths. Take time to
observe and reflect on your thoughts and your feelings.
Examine your beliefs and motivations. Discover your
passion and your life purpose.
To know yourself is to discover your uniqueness and
your “raison d’être” on this planet. To know yourself helps
give your life purpose and direction and inspires you to
become the best person you desire to and can possibly be.
Your life become a reflection of your hearts desire not a
reflection of what others may want for you.
The Chinese philosopher Lao-tzu, shares with us the
following statement: “He who knows others is wise; He
who know himself is enlightened.” Know yourself and
experience the fulfilling life you are supposed to be living
and share it with the world around you.
